Swim day in January

My sis-in-law, Tiffany, had the grand idea to take Hayden and Cade and go swimming at the Apple today so I said we're in. T'iff and I both weren't exactly excited to jump in our swimming suits but we were the good moms and didn't think about ourselves and let our boys have fun.

Tiff was ready. . . socks and all! We were laughing about that one.

Hayden was wearing swim shorts that were 0-3 months. They fit snug but worked fine. He didn't get to use them when he was actually that age, but I don't think he'll make it to summer in them though. He looked so cute!

I love this picture! This pretty much showed how much Hayden loved swimming. He was kicking, splashing, doing the back float, being a "merman", and trying to jump out of our arms. It took Cade a few minutes to warm up, but after awhile he was right there with Hayden. It was so cute and I think they had a lot of fun!

Bound to be best buds!

A day swimming can really wear a little boy out. Tiff said that Cade konked out on the way home too.

Thanks Tiff and Cade for inviting us to swim. It was a ton of fun and hopefully there are many more fun play dates in the future!

7 months and more!

What a crazy little while we've been having. We experienced our first ER visit a couple of Sundays ago which was not fun. Hayden came down with a cold and runny nose and low grade fever which I just attributed to his teeth that by the way I think I became obsessed with, because I started having dreams that his teeth came down but never broke through. So he had these "gum" teeth. It was awful! I had two of those similar dreams. It was more like a nightmare, but anyways so I didn't think anything of it but then in the night I could hear him breathing hard and raspy and then he started the "bark" cough that you could tell hurt him. I woke up with him a few times through the night dealing with that. Then the last time I got him up I was holding him and all of the sudden he just got SUPER hot. We checked his temp and it was 100.4. I started getting nervous because his breathing was really labored so we decided to take him in. He was such a good boy there. It was kinda embarrassing because when we got there he was all happy and acting like nothing was wrong. They took his temp and it was 100.7 so we were pretty dead on. They ended up giving him a breathing treatment, some Tylenol, and a steroid to make his breathing easier. The poor little man was so tired. I'm glad I have a super cute husband that reminded me to take some pictures. Not a fun event to take pictures at but something to document as well.

We also took him to his wellness visit on Tuesday and his stats are:

                                                                          Head: 17 inches (40%)
                                                                          Height: 27 inches (45%)
                                                                          Weight: 16.4 lbs (25%)
Hayden is also doing the following:

*getting around by rolling, spinning on his stomach, inching, flapping, and any other way BUT crawling
*sitting up and VERY flexible!
*starting to try and pull himself up on things
*loves, loves, loves food still. I have to force him to drink his bottle. He knows there's better stuff out there
*eating finger foods and whatever we feed him from our plate as well
*takes 2 naps and sleeps great at night
*starting to reach for you to pick him up
*knows when he's in trouble or has done something naughty
*still loves the tub and is famous for his tub river dance
*he's a ladies man. Lights up when girls talk to him. Especially the young women at church for some reason
*doesn't like men in hats or anyone in hats period
*he's still my snuggle bug and loves to be sung to when getting ready to go down to sleep
*loves it when we do actions with him to: Popcorn Popping (favorite), Book of Mormon Stories, Snowman, The Wiseman, Patty Cake, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and whatever else we can think of :)

Since he had steroids they couldn't give him his shots but they gave him the drink vaccine at his wellness visit and that did not go good at all. He usually doesn't have any problem with it but for some reason he started coughing and then gaging and then dry heaving and then up chuck! We learned that he is a really noisy thrower uper. We'll have to warn his Aunt Jackie if he's ever sick so she wont have to listen to it. She doesn't do good with listening to throw up in action :) Now I have to take him back in to get that vaccine again. Not the best way to start out the new year, but maybe we'll just get it out of the way and be healthy the rest of the time.
P.S. I can stop obsessing over his teeth now because his 3rd (top left) tooth broke through and he is back to normal! Yay! It was almost 7 months to the day that it graced us with its presence.

I believe in a tooth devil!

Everyone talks about the tooth fairy. How fun it is when she comes and how exciting it is when you wake up in the morning and find a prize under your pillow. She's so invisible. Doesn't make a ruckus when she arrives or leaves. The fairy every parent and child loves.
However, there's someone else that comes long before the tooth fairy and that is the tooth devil. There always has to be opposition in this world and boy are they opposite!
The tooth devil has a very different approach opposed to its counter partner the tooth fairy. What he brings is snotty noses, constant moaning, clingy babies, bad eating habits, interrupted naps, early and late night time sleep, drooling, swollen and sore gums, fits, frustrated and grumpy parents. I'm sure the list goes on. I know now why mothers don't mention the tooth devil. They don't want to revisit this "happy" period in their child's life. But I'm here to let everyone know there is such an evil and he visits happy little babies and makes them miserable. Along with their parents. It's not the baby's fault it's just that they have been taken for a while by this monster.
So, dear tooth devil, bring back my content, happy baby so we can all be one happy family again!
